Lage & Umgebung
Not far from Grunewald and Stössensee, it is easy to forget the inner city location. Westend is a neighborhood in Berlin in the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. It was originally planned as a pure villa and artists' community and named after the posh London district. Westend is one of the finest residential areas in Berlin. Street names such as Kirschenallee or Platanenallee indicate the many green spaces.
The center and also the shopping street of Westend is Reichsstrasse between TheodorHeuss-Platz and Steubenplatz. There are many stores with the everyday necessities as well as restaurants and cafés there. In addition, Westend is home to soccer and athletics events at the Olympic Stadium, concerts at the Waldbühne and exhibitions at the nearby Messegelände am Funkturm, as well as cultural institutions such as the German Opera, the Renaissance Theater and Charlottenburg Palace.
