The residential and commercial building 'Zum Kurfürst' was designed in 1911-1912 by architects Carl and Emil Schneider.
This five-story residential and commercial building, erected in 1911/12, is offered at the addresses Tempelhofer Damm 145-147 and Alt-Tempelhof 17-19 corner. The facades are variedly structured by differently designed bay windows, loggias, and roof superstructures. With its projecting and receding wall sections, lively roofline, and abstract, geometric decor, the building refers to the architectural style common around 1910.
Behind the corner building is an approx. 1,000 m² historic ballroom with a stage and gallery, whose re-letting is nearing completion. The western wing of the building, facing Tempelhofer Damm, contains shops and commercial units on the ground floor, as well as residential units on the upper floors.
The entire building has been regularly maintained in recent years. The lower roof area of the mansard roof was converted into living space for 7 residential units in 2011. As part of this measure, the heating system was also renewed, as was the electronics of the two elevators in the building in 2014. There is still a larger potential for expansion for the upper roof area of the mansard roof.
